The advent of long-acting therapies for the treatment and prevention of HIV infection represents one of the most significant advances in contemporary HIV care. Beyond expanding therapeutic options, these strategies are reshaping the delivery of care by enabling a more personalized approach, improving the experience of people living with HIV and individuals at risk of acquiring HIV, and addressing important barriers associated with daily oral therapy, including stigma, treatment fatigue, and adherence challenges.

The rapidly expanding body of evidence from clinical trials and real-world experience now provides a robust foundation for evaluating the efficacy, safety, durability, and organizational impact of long-acting injectable strategies (ILA). At the same time, several clinically relevant questions remain, including the identification of patients most likely to benefit from these approaches, the integration of long-acting therapies into routine models of care, and the opportunities offered by emerging next-generation formulations.

To foster a critical and practice-oriented discussion, the meeting adopts the Expert Speaker–Expert Challenger format. Rather than presenting evidence in a purely didactic manner, each session will juxtapose complementary perspectives, encouraging constructive debate around areas of consensus, uncertainty, and evolving clinical practice.

At the conclusion of each session, speakers will be invited to translate the discussion into a concise, evidence-based, and actionable clinical recommendation. The aim is to transform scientific evidence into practical guidance that clinicians can immediately apply in the management of people living with HIV and individuals at risk of HIV infection, including scenarios where evidence remains limited or evolving.

The meeting will close with an interactive plenary session centred on the most relevant clinical questions generated throughout the discussions. Faculty members will be challenged to provide clear, evidence-informed, and practice-oriented answers, consolidating the key messages and translating them into meaningful recommendations for everyday HIV care.
